Window display competition winners

The winners of the RETAIL Skills Academy window display competition were announced last night at The Forum, Norwich, following the launch night fashion show for Norwich Fashion Week.

City College Norwich textiles student Lauren Loh, working with fashion retailer Nola on Timberhill in Norwich, were named as overall winners of the competition.  Lauren’s display used ribbons and bows and origami birds set around bird cages, creating a fun and lively feel in the style of the Odd Molly brand.

Students set to be part of world’s biggest skills competition

City College Norwich has been chosen to play an integral part in the prestigious WorldSkills London 2011 event at ExCel London from 5th to 8th October. Students from across the College will be involved in a variety of key activities over the four days.

WorldSkills London 2011 is the world's largest, international skills Competition with young people from across the globe competing to be the best of the best in their chosen skill. The event will see students competing in 46 official competition zones covering everything from bricklaying to hairdressing.

College students take part in Norwich Fashion Week

Norwich Fashion Week takes place from Thursday 22nd - Thursday 29th September and students from City College Norwich are once again heavily involved in this season's celebration of fashion. 

Iron man sculpture to welcome Debut Restaurant customers

Customers of the college’s fine dining Debut Restaurant will be greeted by an imposing new sculpture from this autumn, after a 14-foot long figure of an iron man was placed near to the entrance over the summer break.     

The impressive sculpture is the work of former National Diploma in Fine Art student Zebadiah Sherwood.
 
The iron man sculpture can be found next to the newly refurbished Debut Restaurant reception, and has been placed in a way that suitably displays the sculpture and brings life to the alcove area.

The college is well represented at today's high profile event: 23 students from the new Peter Jones Enterprise Academy are in attendance, together with students from the foundation degree in leisure and events management, Principal Dick Palmer and Entrepreneurs in Residence, Kieran Miles and Joel Siwale.

Enterprising students set for entrepreneur festival

Students from City College Norwich will this week join TV ‘dragon’ Peter Jones, founder of the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, and other leading entrepreneurs at MADE: The Entrepreneur Festival, in Sheffield.

City College Norwich will be well represented at the high profile business event.  On Thursday 22nd September, 23 students from the new Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at the college will be attending, along with Dick Palmer, Principal, and Kieran Miles, one of the college’s Entrepreneurs in Residence. 

Student Successes Celebrated at Further Education Awards Night

The achievements and contribution to college of life of 83 students were celebrated at City College Norwich’s seventh annual Further Education Awards ceremony at the St Peter Mancroft Church, Norwich.
