College students take part in Norwich Fashion Week

Norwich Fashion Week takes place from Thursday 22nd - Thursday 29th September and students from City College Norwich are once again heavily involved in this season's celebration of fashion.

National Diploma Photography students have been photographing fashionastas among the Norwich public for a series of street style photographs, which will be shown digitally on large screens within the Fusion exhibition space at The Forum. The Retail Skills Academy at City College Norwich have organised a window display competition for students and local fashion and fashion-related retailers. The competition sees each of the participating retailers working with one of the college’s retail, textiles or creative arts students to design and install a shop window display.

The judging panel is made up of Jane Evans Visual Merchandise Manager for Jarrolds, Tina Olley Visual Merchandiser for Vanilla and Sue Dougal Head of the Retail Skills Academy. The judges will be looking for interesting and innovative designs that fit the brief they have been set.

The winner will be announced at the Norwich Fashion Week launch event on Thursday 22nd September. The winning retailer will receive a £200 voucher for the Retail Skills Academy’s Mary Portas Master classes and the winning student will receive one week’s paid work experience with the visual merchandising team at Jarrolds.

In addition, Chloe Kent and Leah Leveridge, who have both recently graduated from the college’s National Diploma in Textiles course, will be sending their designs down the catwalk at the launch night fashion show at The Forum.
