Our region

In the East of England region, Norwich has the largest concentration of financial services businesses and employment. There are also particularly strong clusters in parts of Essex and Hertfordshire as well as in larger towns and cities such as Ipswich and Peterborough.

The National Skills Academy for Financial Services (NSAFS)’s presence in the region reflects and is led by these concentrations of financial services companies. The lead training provider for the East of England is at St Andrews House, City College Norwich. St Andrews House is a state of the art specialist premises opened by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in November 2007.

Supporting City College Norwich are two other further education colleges; The Colchester Institute and North Hertfordshire College. Babington Business College from the private sector completes the accredited training provider network in the region.

The NSAFS has excellent links with employers in the East of England region and is supported by its Regional Employer Board.

Represented on the board are employers from:

  • Alan Boswell Group
  • Marsh
  • Norwich and Peterborough Building Society
  • Ipswich Building Society
  • Virgin Money
  • Stadia Trustees
  • Targetfollow

In addition to these employers, regional stakeholders such as the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), the East of England Development Agency, and the Financial Industries Group (FIG) are also represented.

Financial services employers in the East of England have been particularly supportive of the NSAFS with nine sponsors currently in place..
